I'm interested in this, too. I know it's been done by at least a few.
York->rotary adapters are available from several places. Search eBay
for "York conversion" (w/o quotes) right now and you'll see two types.
Most I've seen only have the full-size York 4-bolt pattern, so you have
to drill an extra hole in the middle for the mini-York 3-bolt, but that
shouldn't be a big deal.
There are also several choices for the actual compressor. The main
concern here is depth, as there's not much clearance to the condenser at
the back. There's also a section of the stock York shelf bracket back
there, but that could probably be cut/ground away if required.

My compressor was rebuilt (and converted to R134a as is required in
Canada) not too long before I acquired the car. It was surprisingly
cold when it worked. However, it's got a leak and it appears the
compressor is the source. There's also a sizeable leak in my condenser
after I checked the upper connection--it was already bent, and it split
even though I braced the condenser side properly and used very little
force. I'm thinking now I'll scrap the whole system for a rotary
compressor, parallel flow condenser, and all new barrier-type hoses.
That should provide quite adequate performance.
If anyone's gone with a parallel-flow condenser, I'd appreciate some
info on dimensions, mounting, and source. I'm hoping to find a local
place to build the hoses.
