[urq] In need of some help! On a head...

Hey JP-
I know I've sent some thoughts before - some you may not have liked but
here are my thoughts (again?). I did the whole 10V head rebuild a few
years ago. It was a miserable. Many heads do not pressure test. And
my guess is that thosse with good heads will horde them - I would. As
much of a hassle as the whole MC head conversion would be I do think
that would be a good route as they are plentiful - and better heads from
what I'm told. Next better yet would be to just drop an MC longblock in
there and keep the WX CIS. I _think_ there is a way to adjust timing on
the WX ecu for the timing pins on the MC flywheel - others can chime in
on this.
Yes the KH head is for hydraulic lifters. I ended up using a KH head
after buying 2 or 3 other WX/Kh heads that did not pressure test OK. So
I bought lifters and had my WX camshaft reground to 268/270 spec for
hydraulic lifters - worked great. Personally I would not try to use the
solid lifters on that head. I do not recall having an issue with the
injector shrouds - I used the brass ones.
Best bet may to hit up the gusy who have gone 20V and see what aprts
they have left. FWIW my entire 10V seetup is gone....
Good luck
Brandon

Subject: [urq] In need of some help! On a head...
Where to start...
long of the story...
I thought I had found a replacement head...from what I thought was a KH
(I forget the email is at home)motor which should of been off a 83 5K
turbo...with solid lifters...
When i got the head, I never thought to look at the "pucks" because I
was more concerned about the crackign between the valves...and the
matching of the oil ports etc. In any case, the machine shop called, and
said, it came back pressure tested fine, cracks are not an issue, BUT
its has hydrulic lifters.
So in talking to them, they are telling me it should be possible to take
my cam and solid lifters and swap them out as the solid lifters should
block the oil ports anyway. But the next question he raised was that the
Fuel injector bungs are different and i might want to research that?
before I start having it rebuilt?
I guess I have two questions, one, has anyone ever swapped backwards?
from Hyd to solid? and anyone have any clue about the Fuel injector
inserts to make sure depth and seating are correct?
Or do I start looking for another head and only get a WX head???
Thanks all for your help in advance!!!
