We would like to be a part of 2008 UPG (myself and my friend) but no more
than a day drive from Chicago. Yes, I'm sure Jackson Hole it's a beautiful
place to meet but driving from Chicago or East cost will be painful.

Steve,
I just sent you an abbreviated version if the wiring file. LMK if you got
it alright.
I need to puyt all this on website, but havn't had time.
If you are not using the WX intake, grind the boss behind the Throttle flat
and drill
and tap holes for the sensor - this will duplicate the same way the urq has
the sensor
mounted. I recommend using the WX intake as it will facilitate plumbing the
intercooler
better and fits EFI fuel rail better.
I think you will do better with the later oil cooler as it is less
convoluted and fits
better - just need to find the right fittings. I'm still working on that
myself and
currently have a bypass in place.

Hopefully DA222 has the engine out ... so we know what got screwed up with
the clutch
.. I'll check by later today. I have a line on a flywheel in Ohio, still
hoping to
find something local.
I think I've got the wiring interconnections to make the engine run figured
out ...
there are only a handful of connections that need to be made ... and that
will even make
the ISV functional.
I have the fuel distributor plate from the MC bolted on to the WX airbox
cover. The
igloo fits right over the MC-2's airflow sensor funnel just fine. I haven't
spent much
time figuring out the fuel plumbing, but since the fuel distributor seems to
have the
same fittings in the same locations, worst case I can swap the WX lines onto
the MC FD.
Since I'm using the MC's intake manifold and the urq intercooler I'll need
to find a
place to attach the intake air temp sensor. Anyone have any
recommendations? I have an
intercooler that came from an urS6 which looks similar in size to the WX ...
and it
appears to have a port for the temp sensor. I think I'll take it along just
to try it
out.
I'm having secong thoughts on the oil cooler. The MC has different
attachments, so I'm
thinking it might be better to try to mount the MC cooler in the WX
location. Any BTDT
on whether or not it makes sense to try to mix and match?
Probably the biggest outstanding item is the intake plumbing. What will I
use to
connect the outlet of the intercooler to the throttle body? How am I going
to plumb all
the vacuum lines for all the functions that need them ... ISV, WGFV,
Crankacse Vent,
vapor recovery, etc? I found a drawing in the 200 manual and one in the IST
and will
see what I can noodle from them. Here again the goal is to make it look
like the
drawing on the hood ...

Thanks Ben! We're planning to do exactly what you suggested for the IAT ...
the IM already has the flat spot on the casting, so the drill and tap should
be easy.
I really appreciate the comment on the IM ... I'm using the MC IM for now to
get the air shrouded injectors, but I'll be sure to keep my old IM for when
I do the EFI.
BTW, I saw an EFI'ed MC in an urq ... it was Al's car with 034EFI, but I was
pleasantly surprised to see how stock it looked. I thought it was going to
stick out like a sore thumb! I've also got to say it sure is nice to see
how quick that EFI'ed motor starts when cold, and how smooth it idles!

I agree Ed, when we got this ball started the goal was to try to make
something work that will allow the maximum number of owners and fans attend
.. hearing some east coast participants not being able to do Jackson Hole
makes it a non-starter in my book. It really sounds like Colorado doesn't
meet the criteria either.
Kansas City ... every time I hear that town I think of the quote from one of
my favorite movies ... "I left my Jag in Kansas City." ... Richard Prior
from Silver Streak. Funny, there's a clip in that movie where Richard and
Gene are driving the XKE across the plains ... reminds me of my own jaunts
in the urq ... Gawd I love the open road! Hey if KC is a place that the
folks from the right coast can have a better chance of making, I say let's
talk. I have a friend who moved out there years ago ... not an Audi fan,
but he's definitely a car nut ... he might have some suggestions about
locations that would be scenic and offer driving opportunities. Seems to me
we could look farther north too ... Fargo perhaps? :-) There are a whole
bunch of urqs north of the US border ... we should be able to accommodate
them too, eh? {Mum's a Newfie so I can make those kind of jokes :}
Funny, I was thinking summer time for the meeting, mostly for school for the
daughter, but they do have a couple weeks off in the springtime, I might be
able to swing one of those times to do a UPG ...

I guess I'm not sure about locale though. The original goal is/was to
have one gathering. This would be a huge event if we could get the
more distant people to bite the bullet and come. That's why being
centrally located is so important. More important I think than it
being a cool destination in/of itself.
Jackson Hole doesn't really fit the bill then in my opinion. Denver
is fine with me but more of a haul for those east than say, Omaha,
which is very much more centrally located geographically. And there's
a track there we could play on, which is something that Denver can't
currently offer. Off-track driving opportunites would probably be far
superior in Denver, but fraught with big-city commute problems.

I'm in if it is in Kansas City, or there abouts.

If something happens in say Kansas City - We could make Colorado a
rallying point, certainly provide some accomodations - and than all
caravan to Kansas City. Less than one full day drive from here. That
could be super cool.
