[urq] In Tank Screen Removal

The thing is that the hole may be at the top of the screen, which might make
fueling poor near empty. My Audi Fox had a big cylindrical screen in the
bottom of the tank around the main outlet. I had some weird problems with
the engine cutting out under power when the tank was low which went away
after the screen was replaced.
If you're going to the effort to do this you might as well do it right. The
other thing about pulling the tank is that it would give you full access to
the lines that go in and out of the tank to replace those 25 year old rubber
bits ... and the tank's going to be a lot easier to R&R in an urq than it
would be in most other Audis as it is inside the trunk ...

Ben, I am one who suggested that could be a problem. I think the 'correct'
way to deal
with this would be to remove the tank and then the fuel gauge sender to
access it.
Having said that and considering how much work that would be, I think if
there is
straight access through the outlet from the bottom, poking large holes in
the screen
that way would yeild the same net cure. If it is a curved outlet pipe (I
don't know or
remember), then you might accomplish the same thing using a piece of clutch
or handbrake
cable driven by a slow speed screwgun/drill.
