Im going to feed off of a few replies that are in my memory after
catching up on todays list activity.
Right now there are 6 UrQ's in LasVegas, all of us dying to get out and
drive on some fun roads Im sure. However, only a few of us have
running cars, and only a portion of those are goofy enough to want to
drive to Nebraska? or Kansas? Good lord this is supposed to be fun!
Another point that keeps coming up is a track. Being a former board
member of a very active region of the QCUSA, I know what it takes to
put on an event at a half-ass track. And a handful of us cant fund
that. Really, I'm excited about the idea of seeing UrQuattros, many of
them. Not to exclude anyone, but I'd be disappointed if I drove
several hundred miles to see a bunch of well-it-has-a-5cylinder-in-its'.
After owning a TT for about 4 years, I realized although a bit wierd,
they are the most fanatic and enthusiastic group within the Marque.
They long ago realized you have to break it down into a WEST and EAST
event, and thats with hundreds(?) of TTs attending. Again you have
the occasional goofball (meant in the best possible manner) that will
drive cross country to make the opposite event. I think thats
awesome!! I just cant do it, and I dont feel Im alone.
One thing that I think is important is the Colorado contingent. If
they pack up and head east, I doubt we'll see them head west in the
same year, so for those reasons Im hoping they all dress to the west.
However, we haven't heard tooo much from the California guys yet so it
is hard to judge whether they will commit to even Utah / Wyoming.
Heck, by the time this rolls around I may be a NorCal guy anyway - talk
about that later though...
Timeframe is going to be pretty important as well, I hate to travel
holiday weekends. Extra a**holes and a side order of law enforcement
never did anything for me.
Lastly for now, are we reaching all of the potential attendees? The
frappr map on audiworld is cool, but I dont recall that thread
expanding much on why the map is there. It would be a great help to
get the UPG mentioned in the Quarterly once its finalized. Last time I
promoted an event they were willing to support putting a postcard or a
leaflet in with the Quarterly. Heck, even a short run of postcards
would be worth the price (and possibly funded by the QCUSA) sent out to
members who are listed as UrQ owners.
