My understanding is that yes you need that.
On MC conversions you doa nd I think for 3B also.
Should not be that hard though. I have always removed glovebox, then pulled
all Engine Connectors through into Passenber Footwell. "The big Plug for
the ECU wont fit through the little Firewall hole".
Then once that's out work on getting the other part from behind the Heater
Box. If you unbolt the dash only and the center console, and the heater box
from under the hood, then you should have enough jiggle to work it out from
behind.
