Not necessarily. In fact, I really don't see how that could be. If
one of the rectifier diodes (of which there are 6) shorts or
partially shorts, it would not cause the alt light to glow. However,
a faulty voltage regulator could do that. I think though that even
then, that shouldn't happen, because power to the light is switched
(I think) from the key.
