I would still pinch that hose gently, with a proper HOSE PINCH PLIER SET.

I've done it so many times on so many cars without any problem... It is not
a OEM approved technique, but then almost half of what I do is not either.

In the past I clamped off the main soft fuel supply line to stop the flow of
fuel whenever I changed the fuel pump, the fuel filters, etc. Then people
said that was not good as it might damage the fuel line. Short of draining
the tank - yeah right - is there a preferred way to stop the flow of fuel
while doing this operation? Do those rounded roller clamps they make for
this job work better to shut off the fuel? Thanks.
