Yes , maybe I should explain this a little further .

It's not the yellow light bulb I'm after .
With France being our neighbours , yellow light bulbs
are common enough .
There once were yellow lens equipped lamps .
The yellow colour was very visible and gave the car a disticnt look .
Compare it to the difference between the red/yellow and the
smoked taillights .

Interesting the 165mm lamps are avialable in the US/Canada .
Round here , a reasonable pair of used ones will easily hit 150 € .
And that is without the trim .

Pat

Hi Tom,

Maybe these are not hard to source here in North-America, but over there,
the 110x166 mm lamps were never very popular. That may explain Pat (he's in
Belgium) has some difficulties finding some.

I too have bought some H1-yellows from Hella (Yellow Star, I think) but
these are clearly not yellow-enough compared to the mandatory yellow French
headlamps of the 70-80. That's the color I wanted for mine, to mimic the
French cars of the era. Real yellow lens lamps would be perfect, if I can
find some. You should see the effect in winter...

In the meantime, I was able to install H4-yellow bulbs into the H1 clear
lamps (Hella lamps with a removable h4-sized aluminum adaptor for the
smaller H1) but the light pattern is not optimal.

Yellow H1 bulbs or the actual 165mm high beam lamp with yellow lens?
I have Hella H1 100w yellows plus Hella H4 100/80 yellows sitting in my
stash box. No yellow lenses though but I do have a new set of clear Cibie
165mm highs and a pair of clear Hella 165mm high/lows sitting here and none
of this was hard to source.
