If you can get another person to help you - - you can have that person
change the rpm while you lie down close to the alternator - when you are
right up next to it you can get a good perspective and really hear the noise
coming from the fan.
Personally - I'm convinced it is due the alternator being so close to and
halfway blocked (funky air flow???) by the front valence. What else could
it be - like Frank said - the alternators don't make the noise when in
different locations.
Take off the valence - see if it makes noise.

Well, it still makes the noise. But I've got as far a proving it's related
to airflow 'somehow'. If I cover the back of the alternator with a gloved
hand (bloacking the air intakes), it drastically reduces the noise.
Problem is, you can't block the cooling airflow.
And leads to the question: Why the noise when the alternator is on the left
(in a similar position as the stock alternator on a 4kq), but no noise from
the 4kq..?
