Subject: [urq] Gurgling noise in cabin...

And it is not related to my stomach.

Early January, I replaced the heater core in my urQ. I also took the
opportunity to remove the useless evaporator coil, since AC is gone from my
car. Since then, when I start the engine, either cold or hot start, I can
clearly hear water gurgling in the heater core. There is no leak in the
area, or elsewhere in the engine compartment. Second observation, heat is
not up to Canada standards, make that Arctic in January, so while I drive up
north to Mecaglisse track, I must wear my winter coat. But there, while
lapping, plenty of heat to the tune of dialing back the temperature a bit.
Also, when idling, if I rev the engine a bit, the noise disappear.

The heater core I installed was a brand new aluminum-core/plastic-tank unit
from Behr (but made in China), identical to the one I removed. By the way,
it was not leaking much, just a bit at the seams, enough to smell it, but
not enough to really fog the windows. The old heater core was perfect,
temperature wise.

Could air be trapped inside for such a long period ? I doubt it.

Is there a restrictor in there that could create cavitation ?

Could it be water pump related ? The pump is a new German unit from summer
2008, when I rebuilt the engine.

Any cue ?

Who is going to the track this weekend, with my new HERO Camera. Temps
should be just below freezing, I won't die frozen on the way there.
