I will double check the lines tonight, but i'm 99% sure they are all correct, I have never removed the ones to the steering rack...
Also just for clerification, the lines i said were the ones going to and from the pump and back to the brake servo were hot NOT the brake lines...
the Master Cyl. is cool (other than a little heat transfer) to the touch.
I replaced the power steering pump with a rebuilt unit from Beck...not sure if they are totaly junk? but thats what i got?
(this is where a picture would be worth a 1000 words right?)
Again really appreciate all the feedback.
Whats i hate is it seems like the system is pretty straight forward to me, and when running right was fantastic...Ug bug shooting again..

No the pump should not get hot. It is a sign that pressure is building up
above what the pump is rated for. I trust that your replacement pump is
appropriate for the application. Since you say that one of the brake lines
is also hot I do not suspect the pump. When you say "brake servo lines" do
you mean the ones to the brake servo from the proportioning valve? If so, I
would suggest that you have a blockage in the brake servo. One test you can
do is to remove the return line and run it to an empty can. Try this first
with the engine off. With the brakes released you should get no flow from
the return, but if the pedal is pushed you should get flow in the return.
You indicate that you replaced the bomb, so there should be reserve even if
the engine is not running. If you see no flow, carefully start the engine
ad do the same test. If you get no flow it indicates that the servo is
blocked somehow.
At the bottom of each post from this list there is a link to the Yahoo
group. There you will find links to Martin's pages which include soft
copies of the IST documents. I recommend that you look at them for the
description of the hydraulic system. It has been a while since I've read it
myself, but you should also find instructions for troubleshooting.

I have an 83 URQ - with brake issues.
So originally the problem was the pedal was hard.and the brake light would
come on and yes, braking was not good to say the least.
So I checked pressure at the top switch both to pressurize and after venting
the pressure, the switch was fine, but I felt the pump was not providing
enough pressure so I switched out the pump.
After that the pedal did feel better but the brake light on the dash was
still on.
So I proceeded to replace the bomb.
The brake light went off for about 3-4 mins (running the engine at idle)
Pedal felt great, no light, even pumping the pedal fast, felt good etc.
But after about 5 mins, the brake light came back on?
When I move the steering to either locked side (full left or full right) the
light goes out, but returns comes back on when not full left or right.
Then when looking around in the engine bay I touched the pump and it was
pretty hot, I followed the lines and the Brake Servo and lines too were also
hot! Is this normal? Anyone have any ideas on what I can look at? Or what
might be going on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
JP
