"Question: While trying to figure out which proportioning valve to use, I noticed the
choice of 2 in 4 out valves and other variations. Why, where would one use this - is
there a simple single out Master that one could conceivably adjust proportion to all
corners?"
Hey,
My guess on that would be when there are dual callipers used on each wheel. That is the only thing that makes any sense to
me because of the inability for proportioning valves to be integrated in to the front brakes.
So, unless you are seriously losing it and going dual calliper per wheel, a single in, single out or dual out would be the way to go.
As far as a single master valve that you can proportion to each corner, you wouldn't be able to do it using line limiter based valves like these. Instead, you would probably have to go with multiple master cylinders. In fact, you'd need four, I think, if you really want to balance front to back and left to right. I dunno how to mount that setup though. Heh.
Otherwise you'd be looking at manipulating an abs system to control line pressure to each corner, which is what it already does. I'd say that you could figure out how to get one to modulate the brake pressures to each corner linearly, but I think they can do that now, with yaw, slip, etc. Inputs from the car.
But then what's the point?
I may be wrong, but this is my edumacated guess.
Michael
