Now I remember where I heard that V8 brakes fit almost identically- just bibber
calipers.

V8 or UrS (C4 S-car) rears are identical, so you can source either. These rears tend to
have issues (eventually) with the parking brake cam, so some people do some extra prep
work to help protect that area from corrosion. Other than needing the later rear e-brake
setup, it's P&P.

I'd think you'd remember this, Ben- Scott put an S-car rear brake setup I had as
"spares" for my S6 on the famous/infamous "General Lee" for it's trip back to Chicago
after we discovered that the only rear brake components present on the car were one
hanger and one bolt ;-)

What substitutes can be used to replace and improve upon the original rear calipers and
rotors? I'm looking for a cost effective solution to replace my rear brake components.

I used 5000 turbo quattro calipers before, and I think 4000Q calipers are the same only
left is right and vice versa.

Do V8 quattro brakes work and have correct offset rotor?
