Hmm, drove a rwd colt, a fwd saab, and a motorcyle on ice with bolts, none of them I owned or cared to own. Plenty of folks have been there done that on the net, on the tricks that work. Best bet IMO is to not do a damn thing, and attend one of these events that has a competition series. Talk to the guy that is known to be the fastest.

Regarding using spare steelies.... I wouldn't use a spare steel wheel - as a spare! That wheel was never meant to be under the stress loads of Ice Racing. IMO/E, you are better off buying a set of Blizzacks and running the non studded class. Then you can also sign up and run Steamboat, where the real fun is. Registration will open on this link by October 1 Steve, hope you join in the fun! http://www.usaudiclub.com/eventcalendar.html

Summer's over; it's time to think about ice racing!
Who's had any experience, good or bad, with mounting studs in tires please?
Scott J I can't believe you've never done this.....
We want to start with Audi S4 spare "donuts" since they'll clear the brakes
with no problem.
We're considering everything from nuts & bolts with big washers to kits
designed for snowmobiles.
So who's BTDT??
Thanks
Steve Schmidt
