Nice idea but it might not be too much of a mystery. It's quite a famous car

Picture 84 in my Prescott slide show might be a better bet. It's the GN 
Gnat. Looks like a fruit crate with wheels and an engine but it's a legend 
(albeit not a well known one outside of these fair shores)
