[urq] Water leak into boot, lower well on each side

Any idea on the source of water found in the trunk on each corner?  May have
been there quite a while; on the passenger side it looks like it may have
come down near the base of the fuel tank.  Had about a cup of water in each
side below the liner, starting surface rust.  Car has been in storage
outside for many years, so it may have been a one time leak.

 

Also, I need to replace the clutch master cylinder, as mine was removed at
some point in the past.   Will try to repurpose the one off my '91 cq.  Is
this the area that flexes and cracks?  If so, how have people reinforced
this?   The prefab piece at 034 is pricey at $100 considering it is a basic
bracket.  The brake master has a beefy aluminum piece reinforcing up to the
dash on the '91 cq.
