Finally , I've started to restore the first of my two 1981's .
Right now I'm taking it apart , in order to do the necesary bodywork .
Tedious job , altough there''s alway's a surprise .
This time , 3 porn magazines were hidden behind the gastank .
Chick magazine, wich was considered pretty hard stuff in the 80's .
I know , I was 16 back then :)
And offcourse some coins underneath the carpets .
50 Belgian francs , no longer valid these day's , worth about one Euro .
Other findings in other cars :
various tools and screwdrivers , some of them i still use money both coins
and paper in each and every car I ever did , cigarettes and lighters , keys
and keyrings , mice dead and alive , magazines and books .. ....
A wrecked S2 wich I bought from a cops reposessed auction , had a box of
9mm parabellums , bullets not guns , and some audio tapes with arab writing
on them tucked away behind the glovebox .
You guy's have similar experiances ?
Pat
Has anybody ever come up with a post replacement procedure, I've had
ice/snow build up on the roof and then after I drive a bit it melts and
slides off the roof onto the windshield.
Then the wipers hit it and stop all the arms rip off the abrasion that's
built into the posts or the arms...
Yeah you would think after all these years I'd figure out how to get the
snow off the roof, but sometimes it's pretty thick ice, and I end up outside
trying to chip it off and always end up being covered in snow, so ya get in
and say I'll just drive a little bit and when the ice and snow from the temp
inside the car melt it a bit I'll clean it off, but I've screwed up three
sets of assembly's on 91 TQA, S6A, and my UrQ over the years!
You would think I'd learn...

Did you know that audi offers a rebuild set for the windscreen wiper
mechanism ?
I've got maybe 10 used mechanisms in my parts attic , and they all more or
less suffer from thesame problem . Both bearings or pivot points are
assymetricly worn .
Causing the wiper blades to either shreek or lose contact in a certain area
.
Last year I spend a whole day on the lathe machining bronze bushings and
polishing the axes to repair one mechanism . It'll probably last longer then
the entire car now , but it was a lot of work .
Today I found out its an off the shelve and dirt cheap part .
811955215A bearing left
811955216A bearing right
Cost about 10? a piece .
Patrick
