When I did mine I used the standard Sachs 200q20v kit although I
needed a few different parts (pilot bearing?) to make it mate up with
my 4kq 4.11 tranny. I searched exhaustively for the Sachs "Sport"
version but could not find a source who actually sold it. I think I
even emailed Sachs and got nowhere.
Scott Mockry let me know that as of '05 when I did mine, Sachs had
made some improvements that made the gripping power about 10% stronger
than stock on the basic kit, so I just went with that. My car is
virtually identical in settup to Brandon's ex-ride (2.5bar, Rs2
stuff, etc) probably puts about 325+bhp to the clutch plate on a cool
day and have never slipped so far. Feel is as smooth and easy as any
car I've driven and yes that does matter in an hour of stop and go
traffic :-)
I recommend going standard Sachs, I would not venture into the realm
of specialty high-hp clutches unless you are seriously going BIG with
the hp and although I enjoy watching the dyno videos of 500hp urqs,
seriously what is the point unless you are going to tear up the front
end ducting the gigantic brakes, oil cooler, and intercooler you will
need to go along with it. I'm just not a fan of Franken-urq'ing beyond
about SQ parameters but that is just the opinion of one guy who is
saving the wheel-spinning horsepower for my drift car project and just
trying to keep the urq a tastefully fast street car.
