Hi everyone @auidfans,

I just recently assumed ownership of my dad's '83 WX Quattro that he
just can't work on anymore due to health issues. The car is complete
and original with about 60K miles, probably only about 1000 miles in the
last 10 years and has been on non-op status at least 4 years. I put
fuel stabilizer in the tank and have been starting the car up every few
months for the last 5 or 6 years. My short-term goal is to stop this
great car's slide into oblivion and get it back in proper running
condition, which means it needs to pass CA smog. Let's see what happens
after that.

I've been lurking on Quattroforum and have learned a few things,
including that they do not know much about the WX. They referred me to
audifans.

So far I have just put in fresh fuel, a new battery and refilled the
cooling system. The car runs OK but is a bit rough, I've only had it
around the block, but it seems to shift fine, the turbo seems to be
producing power.

Short-term plans to get it back on the road: (this is where I need some
advice)

1.	Timing belt - found one on blauparts for $109 but it is listed
as 5cyl 4000/urq 84-86, but it also says urq from 900001, my car is an
'83 and is number 900058. Any idea if this is the right part?
2.	Fluids - I'm hearing 15-50 full syn in the crankcase, GL4 80-90W
(non syn) in the manual trans and front diff, GL5 90W in the rear diff.
I'm a skeptic about the sealed for life claim.
3.	Filters - does anyone have cross reference numbers for the oil
and air filters to WIX or other reputable common brands? Is the turbo
filter a normal oil filter?
4.	There is a diaphragm and spring assembly bolted to the same
bracket as the throttle cable. One side goes to what appears to be
vacuum, the other side is an adjustable shaft that connects to the
throttle body. My guess is that this keeps revs up on sudden lift-off,
maybe to keep the turbo spooled up, or for smog. Anyway, it's broken,
and I don't have a clue what it's called or where to get one.
5.	Brake fluid - I run ATE blue in my Miata race car, any reason
this wouldn't work in the Quattro?

Any other suggestions or sources I should consider to get this car back
to a roadworthy condition?

Also, is there a shop manual for this car? I was wondering if a 5000
turbo and a 4000 coupe shop manual together might cover most needs???
