Thanks for the support! I am feeling much better about starting this project knowing I have support. I have owned a variety of VWs over the years and already own a couple of weekend cars ('67 MGB & '90 Miata track car) but this is a whole new level. I remember the rally cars when they first came out. And I remember some fun times with this car and my dad in the sierras. The very frustrated fish and game guy who tried to figure out why someone would be doing 80 plus on logging roads is quite memorable.

By the way, I sent the email that started this thread from my work email. This seems to be causing some confusion. In the future I will try to remember to use the email that is linked to this site. pahven at gmail.com.

So now that I have some good info I will start ordering parts. I will be traveling for both work and play for a bit, but I'm sure I will be calling out for help soon.

For the record, someone was asking about the vin. It is VAUDC0 85 7 DA 900058. I believe I'm the third owner. My dad bought the car in '90 in Thousand Oaks, where he worked at an Audi tech center.
