I think i'll be unlikely to meet the original owner of my quattro. I dont think I move in the same social circles. I have papers that show my car cost £29995 when new in 1987 which is 1.5 x what i paid for my first house in that same year so he clearly had more money than sense or more than he knew what to do with (lucky devil) In contrast with me who in those days didn't have pot to pee in. Up dating that cost using the consumer price index would make my quattro cost about £80000 today - which again would be about £75000 out of my league. With that in mind i feel rather privileged to own such a fine car and be able to maintain and enjoy it - even if i do have a sun visor clip missing. :-)
Regards

>> Very true for Ferrari ownership in the modern world. Back in the gas shortage 70's you could pick up a Ferrari for pennies on the dollar from a used car lot. Times have changed indeed!
>> I must admit that back in the day, I would not have opted for an URQ given the choice of a 911, and in my many years of contacts with URQ owners, I have only met one person that bought one new (and that was last week).
>> I think most of us own them now because of the relative amount of car and unique (read eclectic, and rare) nature of the beast for cost of entry. At least that's my excuse and I'm stickin to it.
