Dave:
I have a few spares that I have been using and need, but I have had success taking the cover off the motor/gear housing and cleaning out all the old semi-solid grease and lube from 30 years ago. Then put in your choice of modern slippery lube stuff and lube the tracks for the window. That has renewed 2 previously dead units back to functional life. I also get a good coat of grease on the vertical slide that the window moves on to make _everything_ as easily moveable as possible.
The plastic parts are only replaceable by 1) finding a replacement (good luck), and 2) removing and re-stringing the cable. No small task and not for the timid.
While in the plastics business with access to a lathe I tried to make replacement guide sleeves out of nylon, but had some difficulty getting the material to stay put at small diameters for turning. Plastic will "cold-flow" away from a tool and then after reaching its limit return to give a rather large cut instead of the desired diameter. With more time I would have frozen it in an attempt get it to hold still but alas did not have that luxury.
If you want to attempt the restring repair of a broken unit let me know and I will dig up the sleeves I made that came close enough to possibly work as replacements.

Subject: [urq] 84 urq window regulators
The drivers side window regulator on my 84 broke last week, the plastic/spring
housing where the cables enter the motor broke. Does anyone have a source for
where to find a replacement regulator? I went to my window regulator box and
found one labeled for an 83, installed that, it worked fine with out the window
attached. But when the window was bolted on, it doesn't want to move. I have the
window up, so I unplugged the regulator for the winter. The 83 part seems to be
just a bit different than the 84 part so that could be part of the problem. If
you have leads, send them my way.
