You can pry the little control panel with the switch and light down
fairly easily (no tools required - just fingernails). That will expose
one or two (can't remember offhand) phillips head screws. Remove them,
and the sunroof motor housing will come down. Clipped to the housing is
a crank, (that's how you can tell the car is German!) which you can use
to manually close the sunroof. There are good instructions for this in
the owner's manual.
Once you've done that you can maybe get a better look at the condition
of wiring in the panel there.
