I went from a Quantum 15/50 to a Quantum 10/40 and that's reduced my noise
levels both on start-up and when hot, but my oil consumption has increased
slightly. Subsequently I've heard good things from 12v owners who swear by
Mobil 1's (no, I don't work for them!) 5/40 oil, so I'm planning to use the
5/40 next. I'm also planning to change the lifters and the oil check valves
anyway in the near future too - if the noise comes back after that, then
I'll give up!!!
Cheers
Tom
