Hi Guys
For this project I used the procedure below, so I will not re invent the wheel .
http://www.elektro.com/~audi/lamps/windowlamp.html
I will just give you a few tips I ran into .
To get the trim cover off on the 95 Audi 90 there is 1 phillips screw holding it on . then ther are two small holes on the bottom side of the arm rest. you poke something in to release the tabs and pull the cover off. There are many clips holding it so it wil be tough pulling towards the front of the car helps too. I would suggest doing this on a warm day as the tabs will be less brittle. I only broke one but it did not affect anything.
the switches come out of the holder by pushing them over to one side whil prying, they will pop out.
This procedure is NOT for the faint of heart as these are not intended to be repaired. I used a modified metal scraper and shoved it down one side of the switch affter prying it a little. This released the catches, then pryed the two slots on the otherside and they popped out.
I used 3mm leds but I got them from a bulk store so do not know there mcd ( brightnes )
I got the 2 60ma lamps and did the mirror control also. This was a piece of cake.
While apart I cleaned the armrests and with soap and water and the switch covers with a toothbrush.
Of all the repairs , this was the most minor and cosmetic, but by far my favourite.. boy do I look cool sitting in my car , on jackstands, in the dark , no wheels on , pressing my new lit up buttons .... : -)
cheers.
