[V6-12v] Oil filters

Many manufacturers have switched to much longer oil filter intervals --
predominantly in other countries -- and it applies only with the OEM
filter. For example, my Suzuki motorcycle has a filter interval three
times as long as the oil change interval when using the OEM filters.
That doesn't mean that the Americans follow this guideline... The
purpose for this is multifold. For vehicles destined for certain
countries (Germany & Cyprus for example), the post-use requirement for
recycling an oil filter makes recovery more expensive than engineering
a better oil filter.
As for the filter vs. oil concept: change the oil, skip the filter if
you're tight on funds. Why? because the filter will trap smaller
particles when it is somewhat dirty, but old oil loses it's viscosity,
robbing your engine of the protection it needs.
