Richard,
you're right. The wheels should have correct or similar "ET" size - if you
are going to take them from different model. ET is diameter in mm between
the vertical axis of the wheel and the mounting point on the axle.
I've seen the ET from 35 to 38 on aluminium and 45 on steel wheels - fits on
our honeys. I'm not sure which one is the factory default. The higher number
is, the wheel sits deeper inside fender (worse look, less demanding to the
bearings)
Be careful, I've seen nice wheels from Ford Probe, some US edition. They
have 5 holes and almost perfect ET, but the diameter betveen the holes was
114.5 - this will not fit.

Thanks, Martin...basically from what I gather any Audi wheel 5x112 will
fit without spacers or other adjustments...and a smaller tire will be
better, as you point out.
