[V6-12v] Car not starting

Glad to hear things are cleared up but I have just one thing to add. In Audi
terms the hall sensor and crank position sensor are NOT the same thing.
Iknow, I know, the crank is a hall effect sensor !
In much literature I have read ( because I have lived this problem )
the crank sensor is located just behind the oil filter area and watches for
TDC of the crank. The "hall sensor" or sometimes called the cam position
sensor is located on the back of the drivers side ( or left side of the
engine when sitting in the drivers seat for those in the UK !:-0 ) cam.
inside a housing. A bad Camposition sensor will not cause the car to stop
running , but it will certainly cause an intermittent and then permanent no
start. !

In general i think you have to crank for 30 seconds continuous before a
code is set on a no start condition but perhaps someone can verify that. In
any case don't think it would have pulled up anything for a bad pump .

How did you verify a bad pump by the way ?

hope all this is somewhat helpful....

Subject: [V6-12v] Car not starting

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on an issue that I am having.

As the title says, my car, 95 90 Quattro, will not start. I drove into work
this morning and there were no symptoms of any problems. The car has been
running great for the past 10 months without a single hiccup or CEL. This
evening as I went to leave the garage the car would crank but not start. It
appears to have plenty of battery power and I have confirmed that the
starter is turning as I was able to make the car creep forward while
cranking the engine and slowly engaging the clutch. I checked all the
obvious fuses and made sure all the cables to the plugs and the coil were
secure. I also attempted to pull the DTC codes from the computer and
received a '4444' which means no codes stored.

Have I missed anything? Any suggestions?

TIA!
