Hi all, about to do a clutch replacement, Audi workshop manual and parts
diagram seem confusing. Wondered if anyone had a good procedure, or could
check a couple of things in a Bentley:
1. Audi parts diagram lists 'grease for clutch plate' (well actually it says
'grease for cluth plate, but I'm assuming this is a typo!). Also the
workshop manual is telling me that the clutch plate/ pressure plate must be
greased, or the service life of the clutch will be 'severely reduced'. I
find this odd as my understanding was that grease/oil contamination of
clutches was a very bad thing. What exactly am I supposed to grease, and
why? Any difference to this procedure in the Bentleys?
2. Do I have to use the locating mandril (special tool) listed in the
workshop manual, to centre the clutch plate, or can I do this in another
way?
3. The manual says I have to line up the white dots on the dual-mass
flywheel with those on the pressure plate. My pressure plate (OEM) doesn't
have one, will this cause problems?
Cheers,
James
