No idea how the ISV works on this car.
But, if the plugs are carboned up then check the oxygen sensor(s). They might
be sending a low/high (?) signal which is causing the ecu to run rich. That's
what happened to my V8. The oxygen sensor didn't die, but was sending a
signal at the extreme end of whatever voltage range it's checking and caused
a rich running condition.
