[V6-12v] Replacing Brake Cable on A6

I attempted to replace the passenger side emergency brake cable
last weekend with no luck.  I could not get the old one to release from
the body clip that is located in the tunnel above the driveshaft.  

Anyway, the new cable where it is suppose to clip into that body clip 
seems to have a larger circumference than the recess on the old 
cable.  I bought the new cable and a body clip from Blau.  

Anyone been through this lately?
