To replace or repair the oil pump you basically have to go through the same 
disassembly procedure as you would for a timing belt job. I think that is 
billed at about 5 or 6 hours of labor time. On top of that you would have the 
cost of the pump.

Have you tested the oil pressure sending unit? That might be causing the check 
engine light to come on.
