What codes were stored from these lights?  There isn't much to go on  
with just a report of a check engine light.  Your 2002's computer is  
full of a wealth of information that will make diagnosing any  
problems much easier.  If you don't have a VAG-COM, it is a necessity  
for maintaining a modern Audi at home.  I quite seriously mean  
absolutely necessary.
