[V6-12v] A6 2.8t Remote Key Synchronization

Does anyone know the factory/dealer sequence for synchronizing the key to work remotely for a 2002 A6?  The sequence cited in the manual does not seem to work and the dealer wants $125.00 to reprogram the key.  I know there is a different sequence, but I do not know what it is.
