[V6-12v] Radiator Fans not switching in correctly...

Can I safely test for resistance on that resistor pack if the ignition is
turned off? I'd rather not disconnect the battery as this will wipe any
fault codes and the car's in on Tuesday to have those pulled! I normally
wouldn't worry, but was concerned about there being a 12v supply even with
the ignition turned off, due to the radiator run-on function. Don't want to
blow up my multimeter.
Also, is there some kind of trick to unplugging the connector on the
radiator thermo-switch? There appears to be no press-down lug on it, but
mine is VERY hard to pull off, is it literally brute force, or am I missing
something?
Cheers,
James
