[V6-12v] Radiator Fans not switching in correctly...

Brian,

That’s a good point. I’ll do a cold start and heat up again monitoring it
carefully to see if it was just that once or if it always does that
full/half heat thing every time. If not I guess I’ll replace the rad. It was
my mechanic who said they used plastic impellers, personally I thought they
were metal on this model too…

Cheers,

James

i dont think any audis had plastic impellers, only beemers did, and they
changed back to metal after seeing the light. does it do the full heat/half
heat everytime on cold startup ?? that is the thing you need to figure out.
if it does, its a t-stat. if not, its a blocked rad, whatever is in there,
if anything, can and will move around. water flow can move it to an area
that it cannot pass thew and block the flow.

                                                           brian o'

Yeah, it is a bit of a puzzler. I did read something recently about plastic
impeller parts on the water pump breaking off and blocking things, but it's
a bit of a puzzle. I'm still wondering if the thermostat isn't a likely
culprit...

Cheers,
James
