[V6-12v] pressure tester

I have that sweet smell of coolanrt when I exit the car and on the interior even when I am really hammering down the highway. At least I know it is not the core as I did that already. Any of you guys ever build a coolant pressure tester ? it can't be that bad, especially since I have a spare reservoir cap. I figure i just put a robust fitting in the cap, hook up a hose with a pressure guage on it and inflate to about 15lbs or so. Anyone know if this is doable? I figure my leak will show then.
