You may have broken wires going through the hinges on the door. Lots of
wires cross through there and they notoriously break, so it's worth a look.
I'd look at the left side boot first as that's where I repaired a majority
of the problems I faced. Although I didn't have reverse lights out.
Just pull the boot down from the tailgate side and see if anything is
broken. Get some of the really small 16-18 & 20-22 gauge butt splice
connectors and go to work. If you're really anal about electric work you
could solder them back together and then figure out how to wrap them up.
I also used a proper wire crimper that pinches down on the middle of the
butt splice connecter instead of just pinching it into a flat oval. The
crimp from a good tool holds the wire better than the simple crimp tool you
can buy.
Hope that makes sense and good luck finding the problem. I looked at my
boot and had to make about 5 splices - fixed a non-working rear wiper &
washer, non-working dome lamp in the rear, and my rear defroster actually
heats up the whole window now.
