[V6-12v] Timing Belt - Dealer Response

I spoke to my service rep at my dealer. He said that the belt should be checked periodically starting at 60,000 miles and changed between 95,000 miles and 105,000 miles. He is also aware of the second dealer that stated that this timing belt replacement is covered under a service agreement. This second dealer has caused a lot of trouble for the other area dealers in that for this service it has quoted different prices ranging from $1,600 to $2,900. The other closest area dealers, including mine, are charging $2,100. This cost, although not trivial, I do not find extravagant. That is, given the amount of work involved and the parts that would be replaced, as per the details explained in this forum. I had another quote from a semi-dealer that was for $2,600, however, I would probably not trust the car to them for this service. My service person wants me to bring the car to have the belt checked and I will do so shortly.

Again, I want to thank every one of you that have given me some information regarding this issue.

Casimiro
