I don't think a bad ECT will cause the car to fail to start; run rough, yes,
since the ECU would think the engine is at one temperature when it is really
at another, causing a richer/leaner mix. Replacement instructions here:

A bad CPS will cause a no-start. On some Audis (urS comes to mind) it is
behind the cam, which can be problematic. But I found this on the V6. It
sounds easy.

There is no magic bullet. You need the diagnostic codes to find
out why the car won't start. When you replace those parts, it
should start. In a pinch, the old stand-by of checking for fuel
(empty tank?) and spark may help.
