[V8] Alternator

I have always found starters and alternators cheap and easy to rebuild. As long
as the rotor and windings are good, all you need to do for a complete rebuild
is replace the bearings and brushes. On the Audi (mine anyway) the brushes were
soldered into the regulator so I just got the whole replacement unit - about
$40. If you just replaced the brushes, they cost a whopping 10 cents each. It
is a PITA though to find ones that fit.
Bearings were another $30 or so and I always replace them.
Diodes are also cheap if you want to just replace them. I never do unless they
are bad and a good load test will show you for sure.
