For anyone interested, when I was at Steve Nechodom's place in Berkeley
today, he told me that a customer who has a 1991 4.2 5spd is looking to sell
his car. For those who don't know, Steve runs a VW/Audi repair shop in
Berkeley and is quite knowledgeable about V8s. He has a 4.2 5spd of his own
with a full port and polish job.

In any event, the car is pearlescent, with tinted windows, 17" 6-spoke
Borbet rims, fairly new Yokohama dbs tires, non-sport seats and I'm told it
has fairly low mileage (70-80k). The body and paint looks pretty good,
though there was some minor damage to the chrome plastic trim and metal
panel above the bumper near the headlight on the driver's side. According
to Steve, the car was last registered in Nevada in year 2000. The owner
brought it to Steve to sort a hot start problem that was eventually traced
back to the Intended Acceleration chip the prior owner had installed. Steve
claims the problem was solved using the stock chip, but the owner never came
to collect the car, as he apparently has at least one other he drives.

I don't know the price, but it sounded like the owner had some unrealistic
viewpoints on V8 values. Given the rarity of the car, though, I guess it's
tough to set a value on it.

Anyone interested, call Steve at Karmakanix (510) 558-0111.

I have no affiliation, yada yada yada... . Just thought this is a pretty
rare and desireable car that someone on this list may have an interest in
before it is marketed generally.

Thanks.

Bill Gutierrez
1990 V8 5spd.
