[V8] CV Joint Removal?!

I got my boot kits in the mail and started to disassemble the joints.  I cant 
seem to get the outer joint apart.  From what I have gathered I need to 
thread the new axle bolt in until it contacts the end of the axle shaft.  I then 
torque it and the shaft should pop off.  I put a lot of torque into this bolt 
and nothing popped off.  I want to make sure this method is correct before I use 
a bigger breaker bar.  Any BTDTs.  Thanks in advance.
