[V8] re:Steak knife method

Not to pile on here or anything, but in my experience as a backyard hacker, I 
find that doing things the "easy" way as opposed to the right way usually takes 
longer, costs more, and results in a job that needs to be re-done sooner.
I have not done this job, but expect to soon as I am starting to get whifs of 
coolant smell when I turn on the heater.
If you get realistic about this, only 4 bolts hold on the hood. You are talking 
about 5 minutes with two people to remove it. You will spend far more time 
working around the hood than just removing it.
If you look at the procedure in the Bently, they show a brace sort of like the 
engine support used during a clutch replacement that is used to pull the heater 
box up and out. You can make one in a few minutes out of 2X4 studs and a few 
nails. No big deal.

I guess if your friend is intent on making his $2500 car worth $1500 that is 
his business though.
