David,
Check the throttle switch (under the idle stabilizer) plug? Unplug it and
check for moisture/corrosion. First happened to me on my first V8 years ago
after washing down the engine. When moisture gets in there, then ECU can't
figure out what's going on and goes haywire. Make sure it's clean and
either use some dialectric grease or electrical contact enhancer. Also
check for intake air temp sensor connections (to left of ISV when standing
in front of engine) to make sure solder joint has not broken off.
