Eddie,
I don't remember which is which(as far as which one is on top and which
one is on the bottom, I'll get back to you) , but the sensors are
identical (eventhough they are different colors)- if either are in the
non-functioning mode - the car will not start. If the RPM sensor goes bad
while driving the car will die suddenly (usually related to heat, you
notice the tach not responding while you try to turn it over. I haven't
heard of them bucking, although it could), whereas if the reference sensor
(used for timing) goes bad while driving - the car will still run, but
when you shut it off it won't re-start until it cools off (usually this is
the case). I would pull the codes if I were you, but remember if the
engine is not running you will get an rpm sensor code because there is no
signal, I think you can remedy this by getting the car to die without
restarting, turning the engine over for a few seconds and leave the key in
the on position, hook up the diagnostic and get the codes to see if it
left an rpm sensor code. If I'm wrong anyone please jump in here!
Good Luck,
Jason
