big difference between bench testing a starter and having it under load in 
the car. 

 Starters with worn bushings often bench test as good but short internally 
when under load. If you would have placed a bettery tester on the car and tried 
starting it I bet you would have seen a large drain caused by an internal 
short in the starter.
