[V8] A8 engine swap into a '91 v8 5spd

Has anyone looked into the differences between the v8
3.6 engine and the newer a8 engines?  I may have an
opportunity to buy a '99 A8 4.2 engine for a decent
price and am considering swapping out my high milage
3.6.  Anyone done any research?  Mounting differences?
 Obviously I would need the harness and ecu, but would
the tranny and engine mounts line up?  I've seen
pictures of an S8 engine in a V8 but I need more info
on how much work it might require.  I installed an MC
motor in my '86 4kq without many issues, so I figure
the A8 swap may even be easier, no space limitations. 
If anyone has any input or can share their
experiences, I'd love to hear from you.
