[V8] Polishing aluminum...

Since both the block and heads of the V8 engine are made of aluminum, I'm
thinking they will probably respond well to polishing. I know it's highly
unlikely, but has anyone ever done this? Or even heard of anyone who's done
this? My primary concern is preventing them from tarnishing after polishing
since I don't think spraying them with clear-coat will work given the
temperatures involved. Hmmm ... perhaps anodizing them might be a better
bet?

I'm generally quite conservative about stuff like this, but I was
nevertheless thinking that a polished block and heads might look nice in
combination with all of the red powder-coated covers, brackets, etc. that
came with the 3.6L engine I'm in the process of swapping into my Tornado Red
'85 UrQ. Then again, perhaps it will look terribly tacky ... who knows?
